What Is Chambers and Partners?

Chambers and Partners have published guides to the legal profession since 1990.  They identify and rank the world’s best lawyers and law firms based on in-depth, objective research.

Chambers and Partners UK covers 50 cities and counties in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and covers over 70 specialist areas of law.  It is published annually in October and offers an in-depth analysis of the legal market within a specific region.  This includes a ranking table and commentary that are fixed at the publication date for the following 12 months.

Law firms are invited to make a submission in accordance with the Chambers and Partners UK guidelines, following which their team of researchers set to work on identifying and ranking firms.  In our area of expertise, we are required to provide factual information about our practice and our lawyers, together with specific details of work undertaken in the preceding year (some of which will be confidential and not in the public domain).  Making a submission does not automatically guarantee the ranking of a law firm.

Law firms and individual lawyers are ranked in bands from 1 to 6, with 1 being the best.  The qualities on which rankings are assessed include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities most valued by the client.

We have 3 notable practitioners listed – Joanna Hawkins, Loraine Davenport and Annabel Hayward.
