Hawkins Family Law walking challenge

For the past three years the team at Hawkins Family Law have challenged themselves to take part in a month-long walking competition to fundraise for charity.

Started during lockdown, the idea was to get everyone up and about and to count their steps. It got very competitive very quickly! The initial thought was for the team to just walk enough miles between them to cover the distance between our offices in Milton Keynes, Bicester and Watford and then back again. This distance was covered in no time and extended until the team had covered enough miles to end up in France after the four weeks were up. Last year we went even further with enough miles walked to finish up in Spain.

This year from 00.01 on the 27th March through until 23.59 on the 23rd April, every step Hawkins Family Law takes is counted – using fitbits, smart watches and mobile phones. To make things more interesting, we are split into five teams competing for the most miles covered.

In total 346 miles were covered in the first week – the equivalent of taking us from our Milton Keynes office down to Portsmouth, across the English Channel and to Le Mans in France!

Team 2 comprising of Karen, Claire and Di won the first week covering over 112 miles between them. Ashleigh, Georgia and Ben in Team 5 came a close second with nearly 100 miles.

This year we are walking to support The Bus Shelter MK – an independent charity providing shelter, food, and support for their residents who are rough sleepers looking to make the right progress towards a life of independence away from the streets.

Good luck to all the teams and check back for updates!
